“…Only in returning to me and resting in me will you be saved. In quietness and confidence is your strength.” (Isaiah 30:15 NLT)

Is it noisy in your soul? Do you find yourself tired of being in the “hamster wheel” of life? The wheel where you go around and around in thought trying to control your life and all that is swirling around you? The “wheel” where you find yourself striving harder as life gets harder thinking that if I just seek and strive to hear God better, I will know what I am to do or what decision I should make. Oh, the noise that haunts us.

Well, not too long ago there I was letting the noise of life tear me down and my soul became weary. I found myself trying to figure it all out and why things were not improving. And as I sat one day, fretting over things with the Lord (really what I was doing was complaining to Him), I heard God whisper the words from Isaiah 30 into my weak and weary soul, “return to me, child.” But there I was in my quiet time with Him, wasn’t I already returning to him? Then my soul heard His words the way He intended originally for me to hear them, “quiet down the noise my child that is making you restless and exhausted and TRULY return to me.” “Who are you really placing your confidence in …Me or in yourself?”

How about you? Where do you find yourself today? Are you fully experiencing the quiet confidence of God? Or are you finding yourself needing to return to Him? Do you find yourself tired and in need of strength for what lies ahead, then come to Him and find the strength in the Lord to travel the road ahead?

Oh Lord, thank you for your Word and the quietness it brings to noisy and weary souls. Thank you for the rest You provide when we place our confidence in you and you alone. Thank you for the strength we gain when we remain in You, our Rock, and our Sustainer.
